Dr. Bauer is a licensed clinical psychologist in the New Orleans Metropolitan Area.  Dr. Bauer specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a treatment designed to address severe emotional dysregulation. Dr. Bauer was intensively trained by Behavioral Tech to provide DBT to adults and adolescents and is certified by the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification.  Dr. Bauer has also received specialized training in DBT adaptations, such as DBT for Adolescents, DBT for trauma (DBT-PE) and DBT RO. Dr. Bauer also has expertise in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and has administered Evidence Based Cognitive Behavior Protocols for Depression, Anxiety, Trauma and Disruptive Behavior Disorders in children.  She has extensive experience with Functional Family Therapy, and Multi-Systemic Therapy and has worked with the Office Of Mental Health to implement evidence based practices in Louisiana.

 

Dr. Bauer practices Forensic Psychology in addition to her clinical practice.  She provides expert testimony in criminal, civil and domestic litigation. She conducts custody evaluations, juvenile waiver evaluations, competency to stand trial evaluations, sanity evaluations and psychological evaluations for legal matters.  

 

Dr. Bauer holds a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University and a Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Rosalind Franklin Chicago Medical School, Dr. Bauer also completed post-doctoral training in forensic psychology and adolescent mental health at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She is licensed to practice psychology in the State of Louisiana (#860) and in the State of Washington (#2412).

 

Dr. Bauer served on the faculty of LSU Department of Law and Psychiatry, University of New Orleans,  Tulane University and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  She was the director of Forensic Services at Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority.  Dr. Bauer has served on the Jefferson Parish Youth and Family Planning Board and CASA New Orleans.  She is published in peer reviewed journals and presents at local and national conferences.
